New 206 se owner, electrical issues!

Hi guys.

Thanks for the add.

I've just bought a 2003 206 se. I've been after one for a few years, they're quite rare in the UK. Anyway mine has a few electrical issues. Ive read about the gateway box but just wanted a little more info given my symptoms.

My boat doesn't have keypads.

The gauges will all work barring the rev counter, the volt gauge does read a little low, the alternator is charging. After a while all the gauges start pulsing slightly up and down, the perfect pass also turns on and off. With the stereo in aux mode an audible click can be heard through the speakers in time with the pulse on the instruments. This comes and goes as it pleases. The previous owner said it had been doing this for a couple of years.

Some have suggested I may not have a gateway box. Where is it likely to be located? If I do have a gateway, does it power the stereo?

Congrats on the 206! They are pretty rare here in the states...I can only imagine in the UK.

The video doesn't play but just from your description it sounds to me like some sort of grounding problem. Does it get worse when you turn on more stuff? You might try that as a little test.

I'd start by checking all the harness plugs and ground straps for something obvious. This site also has a great library of manuals...there might be a wiring diagram for your boat and that might provide some leads.
