Installing drain plug kit...

I would like to install a drain plug kit on my 1997 Ski Nautique (GT40). I just don't know where the drain plug is on the oil pan. I see a small semi flush plug on one side of the oil pan. But, it doesn't look like a regular drain plug.
Any help or pictures as to where it is would help out greatly!!!!!

I assume you mean the drain extension hose. Your boat should already have one installed. Are you SURE it doesn't?

I have not seen one... here some pictures of the area that I'm asking about.

From memory (and not too positive on this) my GT40 didn't have a drain hose. Oil removal was top pump out only via the threaded fitting in the dipstick.

yeah, that plug in your picture is definitely where the oil drain hose on my GT40 attaches. Here's a close up of mine.

My '96 had it. My '97 doesn't. I'll have to see if there's a plug where the hose would go. Sucking it out of the dipstick is a pain. If I don't have a plug where I can install a drain hose, does anyone have a link to something that screws on the top of the dipstick? I've been running a hose down to drain it but don't like doing that.

ha! Thanks - I think you broke the code. Jeff was pretty sure he's seen them on all boats yet I attested above my boat didn't have one. Annnnnd....it was a 97. And so is Fabios. Must be model year specific!

EDIT: This pump will screw on to the oil fitting so you can pump directly out.

I had a '97, and I don't remember it NOT having the drain hose, but who knows?

I know, I had one of the first 97 SN’s made. It did NOT have a drain hose. I was told that the clearance between the oil pan and the hull would not allow it to be installed at the factory. I had a Correct Craft certified boat mechanic install the drain hose for me. The rear of the GT-40 engine was lifted a couple of inches and the drain hose was installed. I witnessed the install and it was executed flawlessly. This was one of the first things I did after purchasing the boat, it only had 32 hours on it when I purchased it. I kept that boat for 6 years and loved it for 700 hours. What a great boat it was. Bought the drain hose kit from Discount Inboard Marine, a great company to do business with.
