Hey all. Have a 1 1/2 week old 2020 G21 with the ZZ-6 motor. Got about 20 hours on it, heading to the shop Wednesday for the 25-hour service.
At the end of the day yesterday, while cruising back to the dock at about 27 mph, got a really strong vibration. Stopped and checked underwater - prop, shaft, and rudder felt fine. Restarted and vibration came back above ~7 mph, so putted to the dock and pulled the boat out. Everything looked perfect, except the NCRS plate was angled way down, further than I’ve ever seen it. Put the Linc in demo mode, and the plate came back up and cycled through settings 1-5 multiple times with no issues.
Put the boat back in the water, and the vibration was gone. But the handling at speed seemed way off, with porpoising and just odd handling overall. In addition, the engine or v-drive was making this strange rhythmic, almost harmonic ‘wa-wa-wa-wa’ sound at all rpms. Very noticeable to all onboard.
Pulled back out, everything still looked fine and NCRC plate was in its ‘normal’ position.
Any ideas? Wondering if it’s an NCRS/plane assist issue. But no idea about the vibration or strange engine/v-drive sound. FYI - no Linc engine or power diagnostic codes, engine oil and v-drive fluid at proper levels and looking clean.
Also - we seem to be finding a lot of small defects, and are concerned about QC, especially since it’s a new post-COVID shutdown boat. Things like gelcoat defects and blemishes, rear heater hose only being 1’ long, wiring to the aft Nautique badge being routed wrong and crushed, a 1” gap behind the rub rail on the aft port corner, one of the plastic panels on the driver’s seat detaching, a couple of small seat vinyl tears, etc. Is this excessive or should it be considered normal?
Thanks in advance for any help / insight!
