2007 Nautique 236 depth finder issues

Recently purchased a 2007 236. Boat is great and really enjoying it. After tank busting the back and piggy backing the belly tank, it surfs great! (My other boat is a 2004 SN 206 that I refuse to give up because we love to ski...)

One issue that I am dealing with is the depth finder is not really working. It will flash a value and then go blank and then give another reading. Every once and a while it will give a reading that seems right and it will hold it for a few seconds before it disappears. The other things on that display work fine. (Air/water temp) etc.

    Ideas?

Sounds like the transponder to me but it could just as easily be the gauge. You'll have to swap something out and see if the problem goes away...

I had exactly the same problem, changed transponder, no difference. Nothing else obvious, all connections sound, so I'm just going to live with it...

Did the switch out to a new one and no change. The new transducer has 3 wires (blue, black and bare) The old one only had 2 wires (blue and bare) I tried leaving the black one unconnected and also trying to ground it. Did they send me the wrong one or any ideas on the wiring? It might be the same thing that ally505 experienced.
