My first time changing my oil

I have had my 1997 Ski Nautique(GT40) for many many years. I have always had it serviced by the shop. But now I want to start doing my own small maintenance on it.
I'm going to change the oil on it, but I don't have any idea as to what type of oil and viscosity to use.
if you guys can give me some insight I would deeply appreciate it!!!

PCM Oil Change Procedures

Those procedures will be correct for your engine with the exception of the capacities. Your engine will hold between 4 and 5 quarts.

Proper oil will be 15w-40 according to PCM, but many people, including me, use Valvoline VR-1 20W-50 racing oil due to it having the required high zinc content.

Oil filter will be a MotorCraft FL-1A or equivalent size.

It's been highly recommended to use Oils with high ZDDP (Zinc) for the flat tappet cam in GT40's. Some common oils that people use are Shell Rotella T4 (I use this), or Valvoline VR1, both are high in Zinc.

2. What type of oil and viscosity?
3. How much do I use?

1. When I changed mine, I just used the pump/dispenser from a large shampoo bottle and squirted it out into a tupperware container. Worked like a charm

My SN2001 has an oil drain hose I can stick out the drain plug hole (drain plug removed) and I can drain it into an oil container. I’ve had my nautique for 18 years and I’ve only changed the oil 3 times so I think
I’m getting close to due
