206, 2004, 6L ZR6 Ok, my oil pressure gauge has not worked since I've owned it so I've used the one that registers under the tach. Had to limp home at 2000rpm after the engine warning light came on with the typical (see dealer) warning of "low oil". Oil level is good. Reving it in neutral, after the light went off, the gauge (digital under tach) wouldn't go much over 40psi. I'm assuming that it is possible that if I had a working dash gauge, I could get different readings if the sensor is faulty? Does the digital gauge under the tach get its signal from the sensor that warns the computer? In case your wondering, I haven't exchanged the gauge because the replacement doesn't have the same faceplate. To test the sensor, is the only way to hook up a psi gauge to the motor and see if they register the sam? I've searched some threads and nobody addressed a only one gauge scenario.

Are you sure you are getting power to your dash analog gauge? Does to the gauge light up at dark when your turn your navigation lights on? If it lights and you have no pressure reading it still can be a wiring issue to the gauge. Before switching out the gauge you might want check online how to use a VOM to test oil pressure gauges. Your engine should have both a oil pressure sensor and a switch. You can find a diagram on page 18 of the 2004 PCM parts manual under Manuals/Brochures on this site. Since your digital gauge was reading correctly now is not would suggest a bad sensor. While you are there you may want to just go ahead and replace the switch too. However low oil pressure could also mean a failIng oil pump. I would not run the engine until you replace the sensor/switch to be sure you have normal pressure. If you run your engine even for a few minutes with a failing oil pump you could suddenly be looking at an expensive engine rebuild.
