    Slipping prop

So cruising around lake I don’t have any issues, however when I go to pull a tube or wakeboarder at high rpm I have a prop slip. At least that’s what it feels like. It only happens at high rpms. Anyone have any advice on what issue may be.

Sounds like a slight cavitation, can happen sometimes on turns or high torque situations.

What is your estimation of this fix? Is it in the houndreds or thousands.

First, without prop slip your boat would not move forward. So prop slip is a normal byproduct of propeller thrust. How are you experiencing what feels like slip? Does the engine over rev? Does the engine rpm speed increase while the boat slows? Cavatation can cause this. But cavitation on an inboard typically happens in a sharp turn. Are you turning when you feel the prop is slipping? Another thing to consider is that perhaps your transmission is damaged or low on fluid. This can cause the engine to over rev when under load so check transmission fluid for low level or discoloration of the fluid.

It just happens when pulling a wakeboarder out of water. So rpm go up and then I loose power. I need to basically gradually speed up which I can’t really do pulling someone out of water.

Then It's most likely your transmission. Inboard props have a brass hub so there is no chance your prop is slipping to cause this.

First check your transmission fluid level. Best case is it is too low and adding fluid will solve your issue.

If it just started occurring then there is a good chance it's a low transmission fluid level. If it were my boat I would extract the existing fluid and replace it with new Dexron III fluid. All the best.

So if you are loosing power, that is something different. I think you just mean that it seems like the RPM's stay the same but you get a hesitation that 'feels' like 'slipping'..
