    Reverse sound

Over the weekend after using the boat every day for 4 days with no issues, I put it in reverse and it would rev but the sound was different and it was like the transmission hadn’t engaged and the clutch was partially in. I could get a bit of reverse but it wasn’t as responsive. My daughter who is 9 immediately noticed a difference in the sound and feel as well. When I put it back in neutral and then waited a few seconds then put it in reverse it worked normally and sounded normal. I was docking with a current so I was switching between forward and reverse a few times when it started acting up.

    Any thoughts?

I have a 2017 GS20 that had issues in fwd and rev where it wouldn't engage properly and if I gave it any more than idle throttle it would disengage. I call the service manager at my dealership and he had me check the transmission fluid. It was full. He then told me to locate the transmission solenoid and re-seat the connections and bang on the solenoid with a heavy screwdriver a few times. It took forever to find the dipstick (port side) and the solenoid (starboard) as they are under the bulkhead and ski pylon... After I did this the boat ran perfectly all weekend. I really want to replace the transmission solenoid after that incident, but the dealer said I'd have to bring her into the shop and they would have to diagnose and install and probably would take a month.... yikes.

That’s kind of what it sounds like. There was no issue in reverse idle, but as soon as I gave it some throttle it felt and sounded like it was spinning up with no gear engaged.

I’m new to the group but I have a 2011 super air nautique that will not go into reverse. Boat runs fine but, when you go into reverse, it is not engaging. Just sounds like you are in neutral. I don’t know how to start a post, so sorry for replying on the issues above that are similar to my issue. If you guys have any ideas on a simple fix, I would appreciate it.

Ecsnyder06. What was the problem with your boat not going in reverse?
