2007 correct craft 236 - goes forward when put in reveres

went to start boat. Batteries dead. Switched batteries. Drove boat for approximately an hour. Went to get gas. Pulling into dock, hit reverse to swing rear to right to line up with dock. Boat shot forward. Almost caused bad wreck. So boat goes forward in both forward and reverse now. Suggestions appreciated. Do you know if my year/model has an electronic shifter or cable shifter? Thank you

No you don't have electronic shift (is that even available now????). Time to do some old fashioned trouble shooting and follow the cable to the linkage on the trans. If it's not off there it's probably off at the shifter.

Don't thank me yet, you may not like what you find. Hopefully a cable end just came off somehow or the cable clamp is loose and letting the cable move at the shift lever. This should all be mechanical and easy to see. If you have someone that can move the shifter while you watch the shift cable end you should quickly get the answer. Pretty straight forward stuff here. Let us know what you find.....
