Hi all, I just recently got this boat sorted out for the most part. It has a brand new manifold, gasket, and riser with riser gasket on the side that is ticking. I am replacing the other manifold, riser, and gasket on the other side within the week. The noise gets faster with RPM and it sounds like it is coming from the valve cover and not the manifold. I haven't retorqued the manifold bolts so that could be it. Any help is appreciated.

usually best to do them all. quite easy to do except for maybe with the manifolds on it. look up how to adjust hydraulic lifters on a ford f-150 around 1995 with the 5.8L. hope this helps..

So I just went to the dock to retorque the bolts (some of which were loose). I listened very closely and found that I think hear the noise coming from the bell housing where the engine meets transmission. The sound is still coming from the starboard side. Although I can't really tell if its valves or not because the place I'm listening at is so close to each.
