I’m having a starting issue with my 2002 SAN, 330 Excalibur engine (GM 5.7L). When I hold down the start button, the motor turns over briefly, then the starter disengages. I don’t have the ability to hold the button down until it starts. I suspect either the starter solenoid is not holding the Bendix gear onto the fly wheel, or something inside the system thinks the motor is starting and disengages the starter before the engine cranks. Does anyone know if that second idea is even a possibility? I don’t want to swap the starter if the problem is somewhere else. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks!
