Hi! New to the forum here.. I recently acquired a beautiful '02 Air Nautique. As I'm beginning to get familiar with the boat, I've got a few questions about the factory ballast setup.
It appears one of the previous owners "welded" the ball valve closed on the starboard side. I believe this to be the case, because I cannot open the valve and there is no hose/piping coming off the valve. I did end up capping that off, just for good measure. What is odd to me is the starboard side ballast was re-routed to the port side pump. It would seem to me, that is a lot more work than just replacing the starboard side pump (if that at one point went bad)... any ideas why that would have been done?
Also, both ballasts have a red hose coming off the bottom of the ballast. The red hoses are not the fill nor the drain lines (as I traced those hoses to confirm). I traced each red hose and they are just capped off under the engine. I can't find a reference for these hoses anywhere... Any idea what those are for? Alternate drains for winterization?
