Speedo pickup tube question

Our 2002 SAN has been converted to the Faria gauges...presumably a previous owner had Leaky box syndrome. Does either the Perfect Pass or the Faria speedo use the old pitot tubes to register the boat speed? I presume perfect pass uses GPS?


If not, how to best remove them?

If so, do I need to buy the Teleflex replacement tubes? The ones we recently had broken off appear to be a universal tube by Sierra available at West Marine.

Also, I have read of some boats having a paddle wheel? I haven’t noticed one on my boat. Is that typically stern mounted as well?

The gauges in the 2002 were the digital gauges that faded out. That's probably why they were replaced.

PP in 2002 used a paddlewheel under the boat.

I believe the Faria speedometer replacement uses the paddlewheel from PP.

You should be able to just remove them, and have the holes in the gel filled in.

Thanks. I’ll look for the paddle wheel.....would that typically be mounted near the fins?
