Transmission Fluid Change 2007 SV211 - what type of Fluid to use?

I'm planning to handle all the general maintenance this fall (I know it's still summer) - I've been doing a bunch of reading on this forum and feel i'm more than capable of handling these tasks. Used to do my previous Direct Drive 350Mercruiser for 20yrs (easier to get access to all the filters and fluids - IMO). VDrive had me using the dealer for the past few years, time for me to save a few bucks and make it a day of maintenance with the kids - seeing they get tons of enjoyment from using the boat too

My dealer has been using Penzoil ATF Dexron III - Part number PENZ550050745 - 2 Quarts

Now a picture of my VDrive show's this is a PCM Power Plus

Manual show's I should be using Mobiltrans SHC 50 Synthetic

So what am I missing - has my dealer been using the wrong stuff?

Did some research on this link - but now I'm more confused - any one have any input to share? Thanks in advance.

Your dealer has been using the right stuff - Dexron III - for the TRANSMISSION. You are looking at the V-DRIVE - a separate unit from the transmission, which does require the Mobiltrans. Please also note that above where it lists the required fluid in the manual, it also states that "All PCM Power Plus "V" drive transmissions are desinged to be maintenance free." I missed that part my first time around and replaced the Mobiltrans. The only place I was able to find it was Nautique Parts.

You can do this...it just takes some time and the information available on this site is invaluable. I have been doing the maintenance and winterization on my own boat since the 2nd year of ownership and also on a friend's boat(s) for the same amount of time.

1 more comment I would add about the power plus vdrive... The vdrive does say with the Mobiltrans, its designed to be maintainance free.... when I dug into this however, the fine print that you don't see in the manual also says that it should be replaced every 5yrs or 500hrs. I replaced mine last year as I dont think there is any such thing as maintainance free when there are moving mechanical parts.
If you are already replacing the DEX III transmission oil, my thinking is that you might as well replace the v-drive too. (NautiqueParts is also where I bought mine).
One thing to be careful off is too not overfill either one when you replace the fluids. Personally, I use a smaller hand held extractor for the trans/vdrive (I replace my trans oil every 75-100hrs) and I measure exactly what I remove so I can put back in the same amount. Course I still check it a couple times but so far it has kept my fluid levels exactly where I wanted them. Note that depending on the transmission, the manual specs different ways to check the transmission fluid level. Mine is checked at rest when the fluid is cold and you do not screw in the dipstick. Some are checked warm and some you are supposed to first shift into forward, then reverse....etc.
