SV211 Shredded belt and possible temp issue

Ok, another cooling system issue here. Quick background on the scenario. My brother used our boat this weekend so I wasn't on it. It's a 2004 SV211, PCM Excalibur 5.7.

He was cruising back to the dock and started smelling burnt rubber smell. Stopped, shut her down, looked in engine compartment. Small amount of smoke or steam came out but really little. Ran the blower, restarted and nursed back to the dock. Never got any dash warnings that I know of.

Ok, further inspection today is belt with worn and thrown off laying in the bilge. Some other shredded rubber bits that might be belt but other pieces that look like something else, not sure.

I'm headed to look at tomorrow, I plan to bring some exhaust hose, new belt, have spare impeller in the boat, maybe grab a thermostat and housing gasket to be sure. Anything else I should bring?

Also, if the belt was off and ran with no cooling for a bit back to dock, what other concerns do I need to look for? My biggest concerns are block components and internals damage from over heating. Thanks

Could be as simple as a bad pulley. Some are plastic from the factory, eventually they can lock up and it files it down, eventually shredding the belt. When I bought my boat the guy had the same problem, on the lake, shredded belt and engine hot warning came on. He shut it down and got towed in. When I went to look at the boat prior to purchase and after him telling me how everything went down that was the first thing we checked. Picked up a higher quality metal one (idler pulley in my case) from the parts store and a new belt, bought the boat and have been out every weekend since.

Thanks Tom! I plan to check all pulleys today and clean them up well.

Found the culprit to the problem here. The tensioner pulley bearings blew out and the plastic pulley on them shredded. That threw the serpentine belt. Had to go get the tensioner pulley this evening to finish doing repairs

Last update, finished tensioner belt tonight, installed new belt, ran in the driveway off the hose and up to temp with no problems. Yes!
