I have a 2002 Air Nautique. Boat starts and runs fine. The left keypad works fine. If I press any button on the right keypad no keys work on either keypad after that. The only way to turn the boat off after that is to move the toggle switch to off. Has anyone seen this? Is it possible it’s just the keypad itself. Can’t turn the bilge on through the keypad. If I move the toggle switch to bilge only the pump comes on and times out due to no water. That’s a good thing. Thoughts anyone??

Keypads are known to fail after years of use. With the toggle switch in the “all on” position and the key pads in “locked mode” only the horn, blower and code buttons on the port side pad and the bilge pump on the starboard keypad should function. By entering a personal code to go to “unlock mode” the start, stop buttons on the port pad should function as well as all the optioned buttons on the starboard pad. Do you get “back lighting” of both pads when any button is pushed? The only thing I can think of that would cause a non functioning starboard side key pad as you describe is: #1. you are not entering a code to go to “unlock mode” and coincidentally the circuit breaker for the starboard side keypad bilge pump button on the sixteen circuit breaker panel under the dash is tripped, #2 the starboard side pad is unplugged/poor connection or #3 the starboard keypad has failed. I assume you are entering a code on the port side keypad to go to “unlocked mode” to start the boat. That being the case it would seem the port side keypad is functioning correctly. I would pull the dash pod and check the connector. I would also check the circuit breakers under the dash. Assuming the connector and breaker check out I suspect you are looking at needing a new starboard side keypad. I cannot explain why pressing any button on the starboard side pad deactivates the port side pad. Use discount code PND and get 10% off from NautiqueParts.com

One other thought... since keypads are expensive to replace you might want to follow the instructions in your owners manual to erase all the current codes and then reenter your personal code to see if it “resets” the keypads. It is an outside shot but couldn’t hurt to try.

Thanks James. I do not have backlighting on the starboard keypad. There must be some connection due to the deactivation of the entire dash when pressing one of the buttons. I will check the connection. I assume it may have gone out due to age. I hardly ever use any of those buttons. The only things I use are running lights and bilge pump and that is very seldom. New keypad is cheaper than a new boat.2002 Air Nautique GT-40
