    2015 G21 Starting issues - Inconsistent

Hey folks, just bought this boat (~~3 weeks ago), we've put about 18 hours on it so far (198 total now). It's been great but one issue we have experienced, not consistently which is frustrating, is when we stop the motor after running for awhile to just jump in the lake and swim around we can't get it to start up. Again, its inconsistent, sometimes it fires up no problem, others we literally have to just keep trying then all of a sudden it'll just fire up.

More simply we are in Run Mode using the boat, we will stop to swim and I shut down the motor by pushing the "Stop" button and putting the boat into Unlock mode. If we want to get going again, I should just be able to push the "Start" button to move it back into Run Mode (yes indicator light turns on) and then again to start the boat. Sometimes it fires, sometimes it doesn't. Only once did I start to get too worried as we were drifting towards someones dock. Thankfully it fired up and I was able to pull away.

Anyhow, not sure if its me or if its an ignition issue I should have looked at....

Appreciate the help for this newbie.

I’ve been having the exact same issue this year on my gs22. Please follow up and post the fix when you figure it out. We’ve checked all the wiring(several times) and put in a new ignition relay switch which wasn’t a fix. My boat is being looked at by the dealer a week from Monday so maybe we will have some info. My current best guess is that it’s in throttle not thinking it’s in neutral so it won’t start up. I’m hoping they just swap out the whole throttle. The other thing is the battery switch, this is known problem, we already replaced our switch last year. The switched just fell apart on us because the bolts had been over torqued by the factory during install.

Thanks, I actually texted with the sales guy earlier today and he said that they have seen the throttle issue on several boats. He claims you just need to move it back and forth to get the boat to realize its in neutral. Seems plausible but odd these quality machines would have such a simple issue.

Anyway, I will try it next time it happens and post back if I learn anything else. Will appreciate the same, good luck!

I found out this morning they are going to replace our throttle assembly under warranty. Hope that it fixes this headache. We had ran the boat all day saturday with no issues and then Sunday morning at the ramp it wouldnt start and it was the first time we couldnt get it started at all. So our appt on Monday was perfect timing.

This is the part we had replaced under warranty. https://www.nautiqueparts.com/produc...base-assembly/

it did fix our problem we got the boat back and had 3 days of use with no issues. Out of warranty and that’s an easy 1k repair.
