sticker removal

I bought this boat a month ago. It’s a 2002, i have some stickers pealing on one side. I was going to buy some domed decals that uses the Nautique font, it’s going to be a different style than what I have on the boat and a little smaller. This is my first boat, am I dumb for doing this because of ghosting? Is this something people do? Should I have someone wet sand the areas where they take the stickers off to remove the ghosting, or is it something I can just use a compound, polish, wax, then put on the new stickers? I could really use some advice. I’m also wanting to remove the skull and cross bones, not going to put anything back in that area.

If there is ghosting, which I doubt there will be on a white boat, you would want to wet sand the areas NOT covered by the stickers. You'd want to remove the oxidation on the exposed areas. The areas under the stickers should already be oxidation-free.
