I emailed a Nautique tech guy yesterday that confirmed exactly what you said above. Christmas tree style press in fasteners hold the panel on. He also confirmed that the service USB port is accessed from behind the panel in my picture.
Disappointing that I got poor information from my dealer.
I had the tech guy's email from the software update link.

I finally got back to my boat. I updated the JL Audio head unit software and the Linc. The JL software was easy. Plug USB into the port in the glovebox, navigate to settings, follow the prompts, and you’re done.
The Linc procedure is a bit more cumbersome. Mainly due to the location of the service USB port. I finally got the panel off, shown in a previous post of mine, using two automotive style panel removal tools. The Christmas tree style push in fasteners were in there something fierce. Then I had to locate the service port. Easier said than done. The USB was hiding behind the air hose for the windshield defroster. And it was already plugged into another wire. I disconnected the two and plugged in my USB drive. Boom, the system was able to fine the update file and start the process. It updated and then restarted. I quickly realized that the wire I unplugged out of the service port was for the dial control by the throttle. It didn’t work. I powered everything down, plugged the two wires back together, powered up, and everything worked as normal.

Does anyone know where the USB is for 2021 G25? I need to update my LINC as it keeps saying "invalid file" for the over the air update. They sent me the file for USB
