1987 Martinique Fin and Hull damage

There are 2 fins on my 87 Martinique. We hit a submerged log and it ripped the first fin almost completely off and bent the fin as well. The second fin pushed up into the hull a little. When the first fin came off, it ripped the fiberglass and the second fin also did some fiberglass. The prop was also bent and I'm hoping the driveshaft and the rudder are ok.
When repairing damage like this, will the person doing the repair need to get access to the inside of the hull? Has anyone had any damage like this? I just want to make sure the repair is done properly and they don't just do a cosmetic fix. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated

I doubt they'll need access to the inside of the hull, unless the damage is worse than it appears. They'll probably use some fiberglass filler, and then spray gelcoat over that.

If they do have to access the inside of the hull, the engine will probably have to come out. Luckily on a direct-drive like a Martinique, that's not that big of a deal.

Any idea about the fin repair or replacement. Are these old fins still able to be purchased and are we going to have a hard time finding them? Any thoughts on knowing if the drive shaft is damaged. I haven’t driven the boat after the damage, I actually wasn’t there when it happened. My brother in law was using the boat and I haven’t driven it yet to get an idea of the performance. He did say it was vibrating when he limped it home and I’m hoping it just the prop.

Re the vibration...you'll want to pull the boat and check the prop strut and surrounding area for damage (gelcoat cracks). I'd also measure the shaft runout and consider having the shaft and motor re-aligned. Looks like the boat tagged the log pretty good....a few precautions are in order.
