Maintenance Intervals

Called for an appointment for regular service at 75 hours so far this season.

(I have a 2016 G23 about to turn 500 hours. Had been getting the boat winterized/oil change/whatever else per the schedule in the fall; and then try to change the oil halfway through the summer along with other recommended items at that time; and then do it all again the next fall.)

Service manager told me i might as well just wait until I bring it in in the fall and do whatever needs to be done at that time. Essentially saying just annual service when it is in for winterization.

Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this...

I meant basically that for the past couple years I have been getting the boat serviced/winterized at the end of the season; I'd go ahead and fire it up in the Spring; and then seemed to be putting enough hours on it to get it serviced again in the middle of the summer. So having the dealer service it 2x per year.

Now it seems the guy just told me one time per year is adequate....

He probably is super busy otherwise he would tell you that it should be done. I'm easily hitting 50 hours midway through summer, I'm going to try to do the oil and filter change and the impeller myself because its an 1 1/2 trip each way to the dealer.

Only thing I would do mid-season is change oil/filter. Everything else can wait unless you put a LOT of hours (125+) per year on your boat. I really wouldn't go much past 50 hours on oil though. I mean if you do 55 each season fine, but I wouldn't go 75+. It's just too cheap to change and will save your engine in the long haul.

Anyone tell me what oil/filter Nautique is currently recommending for a 2016 G23 with the H6 engine?

[Edit: called local dealer and they said they use Amsoil 5w-30 synthetic and a filter from PCM engines part number R077001.]

If they take synthetic, I'd just go to Walmart and buy Mobil1. Absolutely the best deal on full synthetic oil.

Not sure on the oil filter but if you can figure out the cross reference, you can run any good oil filter. I have a GT40 in my boat, so I run a Motorcraft FL1A, which is one of the best oil filters made for that engine. NAPA Gold or Wix filters are great too. Although if your dealer is close enough just getting the PCM filter would be fine too.
