White Hull versus Darker Color?

I have a white bottom hull, but really like some of the other colors and was wondering if the dark blues, blacks, or even grays tend to show more of the possible nicks and scratches that can come along with use? The white bottom hull color seems to be the most frequently chosen color from what I can tell. I guess I was just wondering if there was a reason why. Has anyone ever repainted the hull to go with a different color scheme?

My hull is Vapor blue, it definitely shows scratches from trailer bunks or if you beach much more than the white.
If it was painted and not gel coat I would imagine it would pronounce even more, in particlar if you were to rub the paint enough to show the color below.

We were quoted about $4k to re-do the gelcoat on a perspective boat. Definitely not practical.

Grant was noticing some scratches where he was loading his boat, and since buffing out the scratches he started floating his boat onto the trailer. His boat has a red hull.

My boat also shows the scratches, but you have to be on top of them to see them.

Do you think the gray would be any better than the darker blue and black? I really like the black, but I guess I would need to trade in the boat on something newer to get what I want. I have the basic white with the red stripe which isn't bad, but it is not as exciting as some of the other schemes I have seen. I guess at the time, since I bought the boat a year old with a few hours, I saved a ton of $$, but had to give someting up.

1. yes i would guess that gray would be better than a color with the exception of the tan color (whatever it is called).

2. i thought you were going to sell the boat because your kids are grown and don't use it anymore? just want a new boat?

Well, I am interested in selling, but I guess I really don't think I am going to have much luck. Perhaps that is a bit pesimistic or maybe just trying to be practical. I may just end up keeping it if I don't get any interest. It is hard to explain. I really do love and enjoy the boat, and there is a part of me that would enjoy a brand new one but the practical side of me is trying to win out and do the smart thing. Not sure that makes any sense.

I have been very impressed with how well my black hull has held up. There are NO noticeable scratches from the trailer. I never beach it, and am careful in shallow water. My next boat will definitely have another black hull.

my black hull only has scratches where the bunks are, including the vee bunk on the front. other than that is it great and i would order it again.
