    Water in transmission

I’m working on a PCM ex343 engine with a pcm transmission and power plus vdrive. I found water in the transmission due to the bilge flooding. I can only pump out so much fluid through the dipstick hole and I know water is sitting in the bottom of the case. Is there a plug on the bottom of the transmission? What is the best way to get the milky oil out?

Your PCM 1.23:1 transmission only holds 2 quarts. the hoses and trans cooler hold additional fluid. Using a fluid extractor, try to remove a full 2 quarts. Then add 2 fresh quarts of Dextron III ATF.

Place the boat in the water or hook up the hose. Start the engine and cycle the transmission into forward / neutral / reverse several times. If you are on the hose, be sure to keep the strut bearing lubricated! Squirt some water mixed with Dawn dish soap onto the shaft and strut bearing. A dry bearing on a dry shaft is not good. Keep it well lubed-up.

Repeat 2 more times. Good to go.

1 quart is about all I have been able to get out.

You need a smaller tube that can get down to the bottom of the case. Best to not use plastic as some have ended up with the plastic tube stuck in the transmission. I use small brake line attached to the plastic suction tube. It needs to get down thru the small hole that the dip stick goes thru. Do a search of the forums, there are many posts on this topic and lots of answers.

Hey thanks for the advice. I ended up attaching a piece of 3/8 copper to a hose and used a shop vac. Got a full 2 quarts out.
