I went and looked at a 2011 SAN 210 today. I inspected it and took it out for a water test. The boat looks good and everything appears to be in good order. It has 210 hours. I asked the owner about service and he said it was serviced 10 hours ago. I asked what all was serviced. He said the transmission was replaced and they looked through everything on the boat (Buxton). The reason it was replaced was due to the plug being left in and rain water filling in the boat. I'm not sure how high the water filled the boat. He did say that after he drained the water they used the boat for 2 hours, got it home and it was stuck in Forward. Then he took it to Buxton. My initial thoughts are that V-drive (might be sealed) could have taken in water as well. Maybe even the engine. What other issues might stem from this incident?

As long as the fluids were changed, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Buxton knows what's up too, so if they thought it was OK, I would trust them. Maybe call them and see what they have to say.I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. I got the invoice and it looks like they replaced the transmission (80S). Nothing else was done at that time. From a physical perspective, I would think that water could have gotten into the V-drive vent hole. It should sit lower than the transmission.Previous:

I’d just call Buxton and explain your situation and ask about your v-drive concerns. I’d trust their expertise. I think you have a valid concern but the seller and Buxton are the only ones who saw the before and after. And the seller is biased.

I just talked to the owner. I think the water and transmission issues are separate. He said there was 2-3 inches of water in the bilge (drain plug area). It was barely touching what he called the transmission. I believe it was barely touching the V-drive. There's some surface rust on the front metal disc (counter weight?) of the V-drive.
I did call Buxton as well, they just stated that they replaced the transmission due to it being stuck in Forward. Seems like low hours (210) for it to go out, but things happen.Previous:
