Nautique software or similar to read hours

Does anyone have an inexpensive way to get the hours off the ECU? Since Nautique has no solution and the factory customer service does not want to help, there has to be an outside way to retrieve the hours. (2008 SAN 230 with the factory hour meter that stops at 999.9). My local dealer will usually give me a quick read but it is a PITA to pull the boat and trailer it down there just to read the hours. Seems like Nautique could do something to make this process a bit easier. And no adding a separate hour meter that starts at zero is not something I want to do, nor should anyone have to. TIA

So what's the harm or trouble in adding a cheap and easy hour meter in the engine compartment?

I can appreciate doing that, but it's a crappy solution. For resale, it is nice to know the 'actual' hours and have everything seemless.. Just because Nautique no longer supports this, and won't allow Faria to even work on the gateway boxes is poor, imo. I even offered to pay to have this gauge fixed, but Faria is not allowed to work on them. If I was buying a 150K boat. I would be worried about support for these new systems 7-10 years down the road. Maybe I am wrong. They should have come up with a solution, imo. (I know I am not alone). A gauge that is only designed to go to 999.9 hours is at the very least, a poor oversight.
