    2003 Super Sport Engine Issues

    2003 Super Sport, Excalibur 330

Need some guidance, here's the scenario -

out on water for a short ride, stopped and tied up for a bit, then when I restarted engine it got hot from idle so I shut off. I tried to restart engine and heard popping and lock up sounds. Pulled RWP and found shredded impeller. Found a few big chunks of impeller in RWP, backflushed hose from transmission cooler, but didn't find any more pieces. Replaced impeller and put everything back together, tried to start, and engine is trying to crank but locking up and not turning over.

last time we had it out, the hose from RWP to transmission cooler was leaking water but tightened hose clamp and seemed fine

    Thanks in advance, learning here.

Any water in the oil? Depending on how hot you got you could have toasted a head gasket and have water in a cylinder.

If it were me I'd start by checking the oil for water. If good I would then pull the plugs and see if it'll turn over without the plugs in. If still good I would next do a compression check of all the cylinders. By doing this you're verifying the basic condition of the rotating assembly of the motor. You'll see a compression problem if you've blown a head gasket or bent a valve from a hydro lock condition.
