    G25 Transmission and V Drive

    I have a 2014 G25 Coastal. It broke down a couple of weeks ago and the dealership is telling me that the gear box has stripped and I will need to get a complete V Drive and Transmission as the gears are not sold as separate parts. In addition to the huge expense, they just told me today that the Transmission is on back order and will not be avail for months. Any help/guidance/council/therapy would be appreciated. Furthermore, if there is a used parts option that would get me back on the water sooner (and for less $) I would be incredibly grateful. Steve

    The engine tag is 30-16-M01

    Knowing what you have would help. Your transmission and v-drive each have an identification tag on them. If you can get a pic you could check stock. As far as I’m aware there’s not a severe backlog of PCM transmissions and v-drives but I’m not super familiar with the G25 and its transmission and v-drive options. And as scary as it sounds, it’s not particularly hard to replace a transmission and v-drive with 2-3 people who can lift about 100lbs each. It’s annoying lining the shafts up but it’s mostly a bolt on operation with minimal harnesses and hoses. You just have to make sure to get alignment right after.

        The v-drive and transmission each have their own tags. I personally can’t determine the setup from the engine tag. You could call somewhere more knowledgeable like skidim for help identifying what you have.

          You're going to need to get more specific than that if you want to source this outside the dealership. I would give Discount Inboard Marine a call to see if they can't help you identify what you have and give you a price on a replacement. It would appear they sell these separately.....
