Perfect Pass Not Reading

Hi,
I've had an intermittent issue that seems to be more persistent now. My Perfect Pass Wakeboard Pro will sometimes stop reading the speed. I figured that something was stuck in the paddle wheel, but it's spinning freely. The boat is an '07 SV211, and when the PP speed is not reading, the boat speedo won't read either (the boat speedo also runs off the paddle wheel). I've pulled the paddle wheel assembly, and with the boat powered on (but not running), I would think the PP would read a speed if I manually spin the wheel, but it doesn't.

I've seen that the wheel can be replaced. Could that be the culprit, even though mine spins easily? Any thoughts or other diagnostic ideas for me?

You don't see any issues with the wiring? If not, I would try replacing the paddlewheel to see if that helps.

No visible issues with the wiring, Jeff, and nothing has changed that would damage the wiring.

The GPS module in your link is intriguing and pretty affordable. Would the signal from that feed the boat speedometer and Perfect Pass (through the Faria Gateway)?

I'll probably try the paddlewheel first, as that's the most affordable and easiest option.

It should feed both. I haven't used that particular product before, but I have used various products from NauticLaugic, and they are great.

I made the GPS over paddle wheel on an older boat. It was the right decision.

I did a write up on my NauticLaugic installation not too long ago. Pretty easy stuff. Pulling the cable was probably the hardest part.

Thanks. I put in a new wheel ($20), and it appears to be working fine. The old wheel did have some tiny cracks in it. I'll keep the GPS option in mind, but the wheel, while old school, does what I need it to now.

Well, my PP issue resurfaced this spring. I installed a NauticLaugic GPS conversion this weekend and got it out to test today. It was easy to install, and it's working well (so far). They were great to deal with and for it to me extremely quickly!
