Urgent Help on Engine won's stop launching ???

    I have a 1990 "Ski nautique" boat

    Dear all,

I have not use my boat for 3 fuul week due to bad weather condition and heavy rain. Last month I change the start relay dur to startup trouble. After those change my boat was starting up very fine.

Now that wether gets better, I went to my boat yesterday and try to start it. I turn the key and notice that my engine was able to launch with enough power. Then I turn off the key and mysteriously my engine continu to try to be launch in the similar way I would turn the ky again. So I switch off the ignition button and still the engine continue to start to lanuch. The final solution was to disconnect the batrery. But then with ignition oFf and key in my pocket as soon as I reconnect the batterie, engine stry to start to launch..

What might have casue this, could it be a realay contact which is stuck in ON position due to humidiy because of so long bad weather.?

Thnaks for your help and ideas

    regards
    serge

Highly unlkely Check that the 2 smaller wires on the relay are not reversed one is ground one is energize. It sounds like the 2 are reversed.

relay could be stuck, but it sounds to me like u have a wire crossed somewhere. of course if that were the case then it woulda done it to start with, i dunno. so yeah, bad relay is my guess

        Thn aks for your suggestion...

Since I have change my relay it has work perfectly well for a full month until I stop going on the water and boat stay on the dock for 3 full week. So I guess that If I had cross wire when I change it, I will get that trouble since the begining. WHich is not the case

I manage to get it work again. What I have done is hit a bit with the but of the screwdriver the start rely cover.

Now I can start ans stop it as normal, could not reproduce it...

might be some dirt or sumthin keepin the contacts together. could even be a short in the casing. i'd go swap it for a new one. but tappin should work fine until then

Dont waste your time hitting the relay with a screwdriver. Buy a new one for 12.00 and get back on the water.
