2016 Heater fan on with motor off?

Installing a heatercraft heater into a 2016 G23. The plug labeled heater (orange/black) does not have 12V with the heater turned on via the linc screen. Hoping someone can confirm the blower will only turn on when the motor is running.

I have a 2016 210 and can check tonight when I get home. It does make sense that it only works with the engine running. Did you check for service codes on the linc?

It does make sense that the air would eventually go 'cold' and the blower draws a lot of current so turning it off without the motor running makes sense.

I didn't check for codes. Not sure the heater would have a code? I did check that the seat heater will turn on via Linc (don't have seat heaters) to make sure it wasn't disabled further in the computer. Also looked around for a missing fuse but didn't see anything.

I just checked my 2016 210. I can hear the blower with the engine off.

Not sure why. With DMM I got 0V at the heater plug from the front and back of the connector with the Linc heater on. After your response I went out and tested it with the blower connected and it turns on without the boat running.

I'll blame the DMM or the computer is doing to see if the heater is there and or wants to see a load on that circuit.

          Thanks for checking!

Yes, you can absolutely run the heater fan with the motor off. It will cool down fairly quickly though. This small fan doesn't draw much current though. You're not in danger of killing the battery unless you leave it on for hours and hours.
