Limp Mode

Ran great for an hour and a half, stopped to get gas and check engine light came on at startup at the dock. Left the no wake zone and accelerated. Around what I would guess was about 3000 RPM (gauges are out) the engine cut down to just above no wake speed. I assumed bad gas but honestly didn't know that “limp mode” existed and it sounds like I went into limp mode.

Ran the bilge and there was a good bit of water, also this was the first time out in about a month. Haven’t checked fluid levels yet and of course my gauges don’t work properly so not sure if temperature was up or oil pressure.

I'm having a hard time finding a service appointment closeby the Cary/Raleigh, NC area. Curious if anyone else had a similar issue and was able to fix it themselves.

I have moved your post to a new thread so that people don't get confused trying to help you versus helping the original poster in the other thread.

Limp Mode can only be caused by two things. Low oil pressure or high engine temperature (or failing switches for those things). If your check engine light is on, check those readings. If they are normal, replace the oil pressure switch (NOT the sensor), or the engine temperature switch (NOT the sensor).

Also, is your boat a SAN or a 216? Your post says SAN, but your profile says 216.

I am still getting used to all of the CC vernacular. I bought it earlier this summer and haven't done enough research on the history of all of the models and names. This forum has helped a ton.
