Changing Air Dam

Hey All,
wondering if any one has swapped out the standard Air Dam to the sliding air dam on a G series?

I have a 2014 G21 with the standard air dam that slides into 2 brackets,

if I can find the slide in air dam, is it as easy as removing the 2 side walls and replacing with the slide in option?

Not sure of the answer, but I am interested to know this too. Mine was supposed to come with the pocket door, but there was a mistake on the order and I got the slide-in door.

I have the pocket door, and it's one of the most disappointing aspects of the boat. It's just an ill-fitting piece of thick plastic that doesn't slide easily. You have to yank so hard to get it moving, that once it's moving, your hand had better be out of its way because it's not stopping until it slams into the other side of the boat.

It's one of the few things Nautique should be straight-up ashamed for selling. There's zero thought behind the design, but the price has three zeroes. Strictly a money-grab.

I haven't tried one yet, but my dealer recommended against the pocket door on the G23 we were building... but it's standard on the P23 we ordered (started production yesterday!) so hopefully it works well. I don't expect to need to use it a lot down here in TX though.

Agreed. The standard slide-in door probably seems dated but it works just fine. Personally, I only need it a few times in the spring and a few times in the fall so pulling it out is easy enough.

If that's the way yours is working, it is not working properly. I have owned 7 or 8 boats with the pocket door, and mine have operated smoothly and easily.

HI guys - my 13G23 had a slide in and I brought a pocket door from nautique parts and installed it myself. was a bloody messy job as you have to cut into the fibreglass thru the gel coat to make way for the pocket cavity frame. Not a big deal if you know what ya doin but I didn't have access to a G with the slide in to use as a bench mark so took a bit of trial and error to figure out. the whole pocket unit is very large and wider that the actual walk thru area into the bow so it is very hard to get the angle right to even be able to install the pocket frame so this involves more cutting - but you need to keep in mind the flange on the pocket frame so you stil have enough support for the mounting screws.
next issue when the unit is installed is refinishing the upholstery on both sides - 2 panels each side need to be cut down and then upholstery re refixed to the new dimensions - most of this is again relatively easy to do if you have a basic understanding of what is the process to do this to get the level of workmanship that is expected in a Nautique.
I have some photos of this somewhere i will try fish out and put on this post-
So basically not something i would advise if you dont have a very broad set of skills to deliver the high end result.

Sounds like a lot of hassle for a little bit of convenience during the colder months etc ..

Think I'll take this one off my list !

Now to look at retrofitting something like the new rear shade options the 2021 G have
