Engine Cut-off Switch / Wireless option

It has been all in the news the last two days that a new law has taken effect regarding the use of emergency engine cut-off switches in boats < 26' in length. They are now required to be worn while the boat is in operation or you can be fined. I'll be one to admit I don't always attach mine like I should. I saw a post from a few years ago about a FELL Marine Mob+ that is wireless based and uses a small fob that can be attached to you or worn like a watchband.

    https://www.amazon.com/FELL-Marine-W...5749606&sr=8-1

Has anyone installed one of these or something like it? I'm picking up my (new to me) 2020 G23 in a few weeks and was debating if should move in this direction.

    Thanks in advance!

Interesting idea. I may look into that too.

Historically, I have only used mine when I am alone in the boat, and not always then either.

I have been meaning to start wearing mine all the time for several reasons. First, it is the safe thing to do. Second, my 15-year-old son will be getting his boating permit this spring, and I want to set the example for him, so that he sees me wearing it, because I am planning to make that a requirement for him anyway.
I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. We specializes in Nautiques and Correct Crafts, and also provide general service for Nautiques fifteen years old and older.

If your boat was built after January of 2020, your boat is required to have an ECOS and You must use it. If you boat was built before January 2020 and you have an ECOS, you must use it. If your boat was built before January 2020, and your ECOS was/is removed, you do not need to replace it, hence you don’t have to use it.

At at least that’s the jist I got from the coastguard site. https://uscgboating.org/recreational...Switch-FAQ.php

Stevemo14 - I believe you are correct. I fall into that "installed and must use" category. Since I'm not too keen in having that short lanyard attached to me I'm really interested in that wireless model. I was hoping someone might have already tried one out and could give some feedback.

I bought that exact unit when I bought my boat last year. I was often out with my three year-old solo, and if he took a header out of the boat while I was focused on driving it, that system would alert me instantaneously so I could retrieve him. Thankfully, I never had that happen.

My boat never had a start code programmed, so the main fob also acts as a key.

The antenna sticks straight out of the backside of the unit, so finding an installation location is a bit of a pain in the ***. I don't know enough about connector standards to determine what type of connector it is in order to extend it.

Great idea. I don't wear my kill switch lanyard like I should and always wondered how you clipped it to yourself if all you were wearing is a bathing suit while driving.

              Hi there,
I have installed the Fell MOB on my last 2 boats and it provides amazing safety and piece of mind for $200 bucks.

Wearing the Fib bracelet is easy and comfortable.

My 2007 206 limited had a nice spot to install the receiver unit.

              Highly recommend!

Yeah, I wondered about wearing mine since the majority of the time I'm just in a pair of board shorts. I'm thinking maybe a wrist strap?

I have a friend that's had a wireless fob version for a few years, and he likes it.

Anyone notice after this thread started the Amazon price went up to $260.00?

This waterproof wristband is the way to go.

Yeah I was thinking of installing one of these in my G because the kill switch lanyard is a royal pain to wear whereby restricting movement. I believe Fell Marine is getting slammed right now with business from the new law. The link of the device you posted is backordered all the way out till June. As folks start posting installs of these devices in their Nautiques, I would hope they would post pictures of their device placements. I have looked around on my G to place one of these devices and I have not really found a location that would suit which is the reason I have not purchased one at this time. I'm pretty sure over time this device will be a standard feature in all Nautiques maybe as early as 2023 models.

It's not that high, and the price occasionally fluctuates:
