    Excaliber 330 engine hood fix?

So the screw holes are blown out on my engine hood. Has anyone tried to re-enforce these with some material? How did you do it?

Also - are these the correct mounting screws? It seems like the PO used some non standard nuts for the hood.

Yeah...ok, that's what's on mine. Never would have guessed that's the right part.

Is there some sort of 'thing' that fits in the engine cover recessed divot to distribute the nut load? I don't understand how that shape of nut is supposed to really hold down the cover...

Mine uses the same ones that stevo posted. I don't know how the cowling on yours cracked like that. They work fine on mine. There's really no stress on it--it is basically a decorative cover.

Right. It's weird. I'm gonna fab up some simple bushings with my 3d printer and see how that works.

Yeah, I would think one could fashion up a solution fairly easily.

OK. Here's a quick fix. Bushings work nicely. Printed from PLA so we'll see how they do with engine heat; may need to reprint with ABS.

Here's a bushing next to an installed version.

Finished job. That looks better and it's more secure...doesn't flop around like it did before.

I can't upload the STL but it anyone wants it, just send me your email on a DM and I'll pass it along.

SilentSeven - I have the same issue on my 330 Excalibur. I'll shoot you a PM to obtain the specs. Click image for larger version

Can the studs be easily replaced that the nuts screw too? On my 216 the previous owner must have really wanted them to stay on because he stripped the threads off of 2 of the 3 studs. I just wrapped some duct tape around the stud to hold the nut in place which has worked fine for the 3 years I have owned the boat.

I don't 100% remember, but I think the studs go through the flame arrestor and into the throttle body. I'm not really sure past that. My guess is the studs thread into the intake, the throttle body is slide over, then bolted down. The flame arrestor is then slid over, and the engine hood put on, then the hood bolts hold both of those down.

Yes, they're easy to replace, and the link that Stevemo shared is the part you need. Kind of pricey for what they are, but...

I had to replace one on my SV211 last fall.
