PCM 343 Alternator not working

I'm trying to figure out what is going on with my 2009 SANTE210. It has a PCM 343. Voltage gauge is showing <12V. I replaced both batteries that were old although I knew that wasn't the problem. I pulled the alternator (100 A, ra097009) and I replaced the voltage regulator (D2295) on it figuring that was the issue. The alternator itself looks great, but I can't find anyone around here to test it. The voltage regulator did not fix the problem when I just re-installed the alternator.

Is there anything else this could be, or am I for sure looking at a new alternator? I didnt see any other wiring, relay, or fuse that could cause this. Confirmed voltage at output of alternator is ~12V. Set point should be around 14.7

Anything I could be missing?

I had one on a 2009 SAN 230 stop that wasn't charging (this was a few years back). I replaced with new and that cured the problem. I am not saying that is what's wrong with yours, but it is 12 years old and lives in an awful environment. Need to test yours to be sure. Also, new cables may be in order. Sometimes cables can look fine from the outside but corrode internally and fail to carry enough amperage.

Find an auto parts store locally that tests alternators. I used to bring my stuff to Napa when in doubt if it was bad or not. They should be able to bench test it for you.

Get out your voltmeter and see what the alternator is putting out. That will tell you if the gauge is wonky or not, too.

I tried this at a local store. I guess napa would have been better. Local O'Reilly's couldnt figure out how to test it without finding a cross reference auto part. even knowing it was a delco alternator, their machine requires the alternator to be 'pre programmed' so it could be excited propertly, etc. Spent like 40 minutes there and gave up
