    2001 SAN 210 eating impellers

So I have searched and haven’t found anything to help me figure out my issue. I have a 2001 SAN 210 with 5.8 PCM motor. I replaced the impeller a few weeks ago and took the boat out, everything worked great. Took it back out today and started it up and was watching the temp gauge before leaving. I set there about 3 minutes and the temp started to go up. I watched it until it hit 200ish and killed the motor. I took the hose off the impeller housing to see if water was getting to the impeller and it was dry. All the fins from the impeller were sitting in the housing or pushed through the system I assume. Well I had a spare impeller and swapped it out and it did the same thing. Any help would be much appreciated.

The pump should mounted with the hoses on the pump lining up closes to the block. Make sure you only buy a Sherwood impeller there are a lot of junk Chinese impellers around . Nautique Parts or Skidim are good to deal with.

Did you flush your system after it ate the impeller, or did you simply put in a new one ?

if you didn’t flush system and clean out old pieces( because they will be in there) most likely those left over pieces will eat up the née one too

Perhaps something was ingested into the raw water intake. I have seen a plugged raw water intake cause cooling problems before. I once saw a plastic grocery bag get sucked up into a raw water intake that caused the owner a lot of grief.
