    Extended Warranty...Is it worth it?

I realize an extended warranty is basically like buying insurance but wondering if anyone feels strongly one way or the other on an extended warranty?

I just bought a New To Me 2015 SANTE 210 with 277 hours and the PCM 450 engine.. My close friend owned the boat before me. It has no history of breakdowns or problems. It's been winterized and de-winterized by the dealer and yearly oil changes, etc.

I'm not inclined to buy an extended warranty but wondering if anyone has experience or an opinion to share?

The dash screen in that boat is not repairable and costs 4700.00 if it has a problem? How much is the warranty and what does it cover. I guess it boils down to Do you feel lucky?

I am curious. What's the price and term? Does it cover all the electronics?

The prices vary based on length of the warranty and the deductible. The least amount is a 2 year warranty with $500 deductible at $4300 up to a 4 year warranty with $100 deductible for $9,300.

Electronics are covered. It's a pretty comprehensive policy but I just feel like the boat will probably be fine for the next couple of years and if I go beyond 2 years of warranty, it's a hefty jump in price.

I'm likely going to pass and roll the dice.

It is hard to imagine spending $4300 on a Nautique that is 5-7 years old. Possible, yes, but I would think that 95% of the things that would be covered by a warranty would cost less than 1500 to fix. And if you do your proper Maintenance, and pay attention to when something seems off, you will catch it before something major. So you need 3 major odd things to go wrong or 1 massive problem for that extended warranty to make sense. If you are buying it from a reputable dealer, and something major goes wrong, they are likely to work with you to ensure repeat business. I know my dealer did.

That some expensive insurance...I would roll the dice as well. Getting anything covered except by the manufacturer in my opinion is tough. They are never anxious to pay anything.
