How to run engine on trailer

I have a 2012 Sport Nautique 200. I'm trying to sell it and a buyer wants to see the engine running. Where do I run water into to safely turn the engine on?

You need to go to a local marina or online and get something called a fake lake. It looks like a plunger essentially with an adjustable pole and you prop it up against your intake under the boat and attach the garden hose.

Then you’re able to run the engine while water is being pumped into the intake through the impeller to cool the engine. Works fine.

I recently learned that water also comes out of the propeller seal housing as part of the cooling process :-)

Agreed, just get a fake-a-lake. Your local service place may even just loan you one. They work just fine.

Just get a 1” diameter section of hose from Home Depot and connect it to the input side of the raw water strainer, put the other end in a 5 gallon bucket and feed the bucket from a garden hose.

Thanks for the responses. I got it running with the fake lake. However, it gurgles. Is that typical? Or is it because I've got it hooked up wrong or the boat is at a decline because my driveway isn't flat?

The gurgling is fine. They all do that.
