    1976 SN: 351 Firing Order

    I have a 351 in my 76. It's LH rotation.

Does anyone know what the firing order should be? I believe it should be 1-8-4-5-6-2-7-3 (clockwise). Is that correct?

Also, is the #1 cylinder for a ford the front starboard (driver side) cylinder?

Sounds like stupid questions.....but sometimes you just got to ask anyway.

    Thanks

Yes, the #1 cylinder is the forewardmost cylinder on the starboard side. The firing order you have is correct for a RH (reverse rotation) 351w. If the motor in your '76 is original, then that is the correct firing order. If it has been replaced with a standard rotation (LH) motor, then the correct firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8.

The firing order should also be written on the engine plate on top of the engine block on one side or the other of the carb. The cylinder numbers should also be stamped into the top of the block.

Thanks. I noticed the engine plate tag after I had posted the note.
