2008 Super Air 210 Steering Cable options.

I know my steering cable part
    https://www.nautiqueparts.com/produc...s-1998-to-now/

but is this a Nautique proprietary part or is this a generic more mass produced part I could pick up from any dealership . Looking to try and find quick turnaround rather than order up if I can.

When I replaced mine this season, I ordered from Nautique parts. I use Discount Inboard Marine quite a bit, but their Teleflex cables were 6 inches shorter or longer. I wanted an exact fit, so I went with the proper cable from Nautique Parts. Dont forget the PN 10% discount.

FWIW I installed my new steering cable By running it down the outside going along the gunnel. Then centering the cable and not going back to the center over the gas tank.

      Very fast and works great!

I just replaced mine on a 2008 210 with heater . It took 2 days and I had to remove the fuel tank and the front seat back cushion and lower panel. Part of the time spent was to clean the bilge under the gas tank. It is installed exactly like the original strapped and screwed to the stringer. Its a big job if you want to do it right. I got the cable from Nautique Parts.

I did it yesterday. My dealer got them in quicker than expected. This is my 4th steering cable on boats I’ve owned. Quite possibly the biggest pain in the arse to remove I’ve had to deal with but easiest To re install. Had I had a set of cable/bolt cutters to just cut the old cable it would’ve been much easier. There is plenty of room to fish new steering cable through There is a point where the original cable makes an almost 90 degree turn between the deck , front ballast tank, and fuel tank as it drops into the hull from the upper floor and then runs the length of the fuel tank back to the rudder arm . The long solid rectangular piece can’t make the bend and the metal rod from the rudder end has a nut that gets hung up After about 1.5hrs of trying to jimmy that thing out it finally broke free and I was able to pull it out. But #%^€ my arm looks like I was attacked by a mountain lion . If I could’ve just cut either end of the cable off it woulda taken 10min.

install of new cable was cake was it exactly the same way.

I will also say this. Not sure if everyone else’s dealerships have gone the way of mine in most recent covid times, but my dealers MSRP on the steering cable was 299 (199 NP ) and 86.00 ( I think 40 NP ) for an impeller kit. Which is all well above the Nautique Parts standard even without PN discount. So check your local dealership for their “ special “ covid pricing before you decide.

thanks for the replies. Have a great Memorial Day and thank a service member.

Teleflex/Seastar also embosses the part number somewhere along the cable sheath. You could post that for others and check prices with other vendors
