Last trip out on the lake my LINC 1.0 screen was garbled at first and then appeared upside down. I turned it off and back on and it was fine and stayed fine for the rest of the trip. I’m expecting the screen is probably going to do this more often until it no longer functions so it’s time to look at my options. And that’s ok. I knew this day would eventually come when I bought the boat. Here’s what I have so far. Also open to other options. Any experience you have would be helpful.
I could try to find a LINC 1.0 unit. I have not been able to source one so far but haven’t tried real hard yet. That looks to be my most expensive option from the prices I’ve seen online but would be a perfect replacement.
My Nautique dealership can’t get a 1.0. They suggest moving to LINC 2.0. There’s a kit. It includes a bezel and the 2.0 unit. It’s plug and play with a couple of caveats: I’d lose ballast gauges and possibly the fuel gauge. They’ve offered to run a separate fuel gauge as part of that upgrade if I want them t. Cost would be pretty much the same ballpark as above. That puts me in a 2.0 which is far easier to source and I expect will have better availability than the 1.0 had.
I could cobble something together. Using a 3-in-1 speedo gauge, a 4-in-1 tach gauge, and a Zero Off display I’m pretty sure I can cobble together something similar to the non-LINC system. I’d have to fashion something for the bezel or use a non-LINC bezel from a similar era 210. That would be the cheapest option but I am concerned about resale going that route. And I’d miss having the built in code scanner, especially as the boat gets older.
Any experience or tips on this topic would be greatly appreciated. It’s nothing I’m pulling the trigger on now unless the screen gets significantly worse fast (which is possible). Just trying to gather any experience and info this crowd has before I need do it. I’ll post updates on whatever I decide to do.
