Last week we started developing an issue with the check engine light coming on when we brought the boat back to idle after a ski run. Initially it would flicker. Eventually it just started to stay on. Turn the engine off and back on- everything was fine. Oil pressure did read a little low at around 20 at idle around 40 under power. Today we had the same issue. The only thing that was different is the the engine kicked into limp mode while running under power for about 2 minutes even though the check engine light didn’t come on. Seems like it probably is an oil pressure sensor issue. The only thing that throws me is what happened today. Am I missing something?

Ok, I will say 40psi does seem a little low. It could be the sending unit. Not sure if there is a separate unit for the light vs the gauge. The light should turn on at 8psi I think?

You can find out if it is oil or temp by disconnecting them one by one.
The both switch to ground.
The oil switch is underneath the fuel pump the temp is close to the thermostat.
If you want to make sure you on the right one, disconnect the cable turn ign on and put it to ground cel should turn on.
If oil pressure and temp are ok replace the switch.

It will stay in limp until you restart.
Disconnecting the temp and oil switch should stop that.
But keep an eye on temp and oil to avoid damage.
And fix the problem limp is there for a reason.
