Over heating 2004 Super air 210

Hello, first time out and had an overheating issue. Everything was well for about 10 min then started to overheat. Cleared the silt filter (nothing in it really) and was good for about 10 more minutes. After that it kept overheating. I removed the silt filter and started the boat. No water can through. In the course of getting it off the lake I had to start it briefly and there ultimately was water in the silt filter. Checked the impeller and it looks really good (and will now replace). Any suggestion on where to look next? Thanks

New impeller. New thermostat. Ran on trailer in neutral at 1200 for about 10 min and all was good. Water flowing through silt filter and about 160F. Released from the trailer and within 2 minutes while in drive (idle speed. Nothing aggressive) temp spiked to 175F plus and over heat warning came on. Could this be a transmission thing? Boat did not seem to be laboring and no noise while in drive but engaging the transmission seemed to be what caused the temp to rise. Running out of summer here in Wisconsin so any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Make sure all of the hose clamps and connection points are snug throughout the cooling circuit of hoses, if they aren’t you could be pulling air into the system which will inhibit proper water flow. Also make sure the shutoff valve on the bottom of the boat for the raw water pick up is wide open, if it’s partially closed your suppressing the flow rate of water through the system. Finally, if possible look at the raw water pick up under the hull to make sure there isn’t something obstructing the flow. If your on the trailer you could could also disconnect the input hose to the raw water strainer and pour water down it to make sure it exits the pick up fitting under boat to ensure there isn’t blockage in there.
