2002 rear seat cushion (for your butt)

Bought my 196 second hand about 10 years ago. A couple of years ago boat sank in storm and then I had everything repaired and gas tank was removed and drained. Ever since my rear cushion does not stay in place. I realize serious skiers remove the cushion but I often pull a float for visiting friends so I need a back seat .
Can someone with a similar boat please inspect their cushion? Thank you in advance.
The situation is as follows. The back seat is clipped in place in the back and there are rubber stretch straps at the bottom in the front. On the back side there is a metal curved clip that "catches" upward under a cutout of a metal frame. The cutout looks like someone did it by hand (almost a little irregular). The metal curved clip is screwed in to the bottom of the butt cushion by 2 screws......funny thing is that there are 2 extra screw holes set a little further back.....did someone practice drilling holes/. The seat came back from the shop with the clip in the 2 far holes and I could never squeeze the cushion far enough back under the backrest to get it to catch under the frame. I was thinking about sticking some washers between the backing board and the clip, in order to lower the clip to get it to catch better(- a future plan if I cannot get help here). Then I tried moving the clip to the front 2 screwholes and the problem is that I can get the clip under the catch, but the seat sets too low and I can pull it forward very easily......the only way to rectify this would be to put some kind if spacers under the back end of the cushion so that it rides higher and keeps the catch engaged. These spacers need to be soft so that the gas tank is not punctured.
Anybody here have a similar problem or can inspect there cushion....please tell me where your 2 screwholes are spaced distance wise from the edge of the cushion backing.
    Thank you.
