    Excessive bilge pump running

Last summer, we had an incident that required some hull repairs, a new prop, a new shaft, and some fittings around the shaft to our 2014 G25. Since then everything has been pretty good, and the boat appears to be water-tight. However, when we are running, the bilge pump (rear) runs more frequently than I remember. Note, this is only an issue while the boat is running / motor running. I left the boat in the water overnight (checked it every few hours), and there was no buildup of water. We see no abnormal build-up of water around the front bilge pump (next to the t-plug, ballast, and freshwater through-hulls).

The bilge pump keeps up with the suspected leak. The bilge pump once ran for over 1 minute straight after I stopped. However, typically, it will run for 10-15 seconds and then stop for probably more than 15 minutes. If we are just floating, it might run for a few seconds when we stop, then nothing for the entire time we are stopped, or only after people get on the boat wet, and then it is expected.

I have two bilge pumps, however, if for some the bilge continues to runs again, or both starts running, I will cut the engine, close the valves while the bilge catches up. So I think that is a good safety process, for the worst-case scenario, but I am still a little concerned.

I think there are two possibilities: 1) There is a small leak in the fresh water cooling system or 2) there is a leak around the prop shaft stuffing box, that only shows up once the shaft is moving and it is heated up some and expands.

    Any suggestions?

Can you run it on the trailer with a hose and look for water . That will eliminate the engine cooling system . Then put it back in the water and look at rudder and shaft.
