2001 GT40 new long block, electrical issues.

Hey I was wondering if anyone had any experience or ideas for trouble shooting. Last year I bought a 2001 SAN with the gt40. The guy I bought it from ripped me off, the boat had a cracked block and never ran right. I ordered a new long block from summit racing and had a shop do the replacement. The shop said the old ecu was corroded so I got a mustang ecu and had one of the guys on here flash a chip for it just to be safe.(t.franscioni, This guys the man, huge help) The shop called me today saying they had the engine in and everything was good with the engine, transmission and v drive, but the issue was the keypad wasn't working right and the gauges weren't working. The shop recommended ordering a new keypad. They said the original keypad was sending continuous signal to the starter. New keypads are 400 and I'm not entirely sure that's the issue because the keypad and gauges were working fine before the ecu and engine swap. Other people have run the mustang ecu with the chip with no issues so I probably don't think that's it. Anyone have experience with this or any ideas for trouble shooting? Do you guys think the keypad and the gauges are related or separate issues?

Thanks so much for the help, Avery

First can I have the old ecu? I can fix these and always in the need of parts. Or I can fix it for you as a spare.
Can you provide the part no for the mustang ecu that matches the proBoss?
To your problem the ECU does not control the starter the keypad does. If I remember right the keypad gets a rpm signal so it knows when the engine is running but I have to look this up later confirm.
If the signal is missing it would run the starter for too long but would still stop.
If it keeps running endless and stops when you unplug the keypad it's the keypad.
You can replace it or convert to a good old ignition switch (my preferred choice)
Or if you dont need security just a pushbutton start will do.
