    Ballast pump malfunction

We surf with all the tanks full on our 2014 G23. Notice the wake isn’t right today and boat tilts to port a little while surfing starboard (starboard side is selected in surf settings). Press the starboard fill button again and the wake gets better, but there’s no water out of the overflow vent like I would expect from the pump cycling twice. I notice the pump doesn’t sound as loud as the others as well. So we decide to slalom and empty the tanks. Now boat has a starboard tilt. Put it on the lift and see water draining from starboard hull intake with the pumps off. Pump looks ok but I guess it’s failing. Anything to do other than replace the pump?

Your impellor is bad. It is probably missing a blade or two and that's why it is leaking and sounds different than the other pumps. You can just buy an impeller kit and change it yourself. It is not too difficult.

GatorBaitWake, you were right and I shockingly found an impeller at the lake this morning! Have never had a problem with a ballast pump and have had Nautiques since 2007, been lucky I guess. Thanks for the info!

I carry spare ballast impellers just in case one goes out. Easy to replace, even on the lake. $30 weekend saver.
