89 balist resistor needed

My 89 balist resistor failed and the new replacement does n't
work. So Im looking for either a working used one or how
to switch to electronic ignition that doesn't need a resistor.

Why don't you make the swap to an HEI unit like a Davis Unified Ignition (DUI) distributor from PerformanceDistributors.com? The HEI has the coil built-in and no external ballast resistor is required. Your engine will thank you for it. With a PLD engine, you can get a standard rotation unit and save a few shekels in the process.

DUI is legit. You can also get a Mallory marine distributor that will mostly just drop in. Coil isn’t integrated but you could then just buy one that doesn’t need it. But that’s all a lot of money just to avoid finding a $10 resistor. Have you put a multimeter on it to confirm the issue is the resistor? It’s really unlikely a new resistor would fail.

+1 I have 3 351 w engines running DUI . Huge difference over points.

Im confused based on the model number
on the engine tag vs the firing order
in the manual..

Always trust your engine tag over anything else. That looks like a standard firing order for a left handed engine. You have a left-handed engine with a right handed prop accoring to the model number on your tag which is typical on an 89.

rotation..
