    Gelcoat Cracks and Warranty Questions

is gell coat crack's (spyder carck's) coverd by warranty?
I have a 2002 Air. I was told the 5 year warranty coverd everything.

use the link above and tab to page 50 or so and you can read that gelcoat cracks are included in the 5 year warranty if they are not caused by collision or impact...

I think this is what Grant is referring to.

Exception: The “Lifetime” and “Transferable” warranties do not cover the
gelcoat nor any other components fastened or applied to the hull or deck.
Gelcoat discoloration, blisters, or bubbles and cracks are not considered
          structural defects.

I'm sure you could persuade them otherwise. Especially if you're within the 5 year period.

if they dont cover it, hit it with a hammer. lol, but seriously u should definetly be able to get them to cover it. if not then that is a total ripoff. there is no reason for ur gel coat to be cracking at 5 yrs old

I know it's almost 20 years ago, but I had an '87 that developed gelcoat cracks (spider cracks) the first year. Midwest Correct Craft took great care of it for me.

Note on page 55 under the 5 Year Limited Warranty Non Transferrable, (middle of the page)

Quoting the warranty "coverage applies to factory installed components including gelcoat (blisters or cracks if not caused by collision)"

the Limitation and exclusion of this coverage is stated just before this paragraph which is confusing... but from my experience in August 2006, I had a spyder crack repair done free on my 2004 SV-211TE by the dealer so it must have been done under warranty (they called my attention to it or I might not have noticed the cracks.)

Grant, I'm just curious where your cracks are occurring, are they under the tower feet? If so I reckon they'll try and snake out of it saying you have too much weight on your tower... But I could be wrong.
                  How about \"Chales\"?

The cracks are on the port side (passenger side) right above the AIR logo and below the rub rail. Sort of right between the 2

Grant I know normally they do not cover stress cracks unless it was under a year old boat, but all you can do is ask them.

When I took delivery of my 2004 Super Sport, I went over it with a fine tooth comb and found many spider cracks on the back transom and a few cracks on the hull (mostly eminating from screw holes). The dealer fixed this during the first storage season since I didn't want to be without the boat for a month during the summer.
Here we are at the beginning of the 4th year and when I took my boat out of storage, I noticed a number of the stress cracks on the back transom again. I am going to do a thorough search of the hull this weekend also
What are my chances that this will get covered again? How do I go about it? Do I start with the dealer or write to CC?
Looking for any advice that could help in my "situation"
