Leak off of Raw Water Pump / Strainer Ques.

02 Super Sport - 330 Excalibur 5.7 - Just recently changed impeller (newbie here) and noticed there is a decent drip off of the pump and it seems that more water is collecting in the bilge than before. Boat is running fine so far. I've Been reading and see this is common and might be an issue with the newer gaskets included with the impeller? I see some people have had luck with thicker gasket paper from auto parts store or liquid gasket or both? What would you guys do first to troubleshoot? Also, trying to figure out which water pump I have: Serpentine/Crank/Belt? It is connected to a belt and my boat has 2 belts? Located Rear Port side. Thanks!

Final question: My strainer has some cloudiness to it, almost looks like mineral build up (to me) - I've tried to unscrew it to investigate/clean but its too tight and I feel like I'm going to break it if I force it. Boat was purchased from a guy who barely used it for years and kept it in heated garage so never winterized it. Could be from water sitting in there for months. Anyone seen this?

Double check whatever the torque spec is and just re-torque all the impeller bolts to be sure.

There were also O-ring seals for each bolt check those.

Personally I would plan to replace the thermostat.

Also as it turns out my trailer needed new bunk carpet new bearings new seals new races and a new hitch/brake actuator lol.

Also probably every gas strut for the seats and different hatches need to just be replaced either way.

Be sure u have GOOD batteries.

Check the date codes on the trailer tires!

My boat was similar an 06 with a little over 500 hours. Hasn’t been used much over the last couple seasons but always “maintained” by the local marina.

But I went through as you can see I fixed a lot of average type things. Also change or inspect the fluids in the V Drive/. transmission.

Not everyone has the greatest memory, and some things may have been repaired or forgotten about when they sold it to you.

        Post some pics!!

Early 330 Excalibur motors had water pumps that were problematic with the rear cover leaking after impeller change. I experienced it and recieved a new pump under warranty. The pump impeller kit comes with an o-ring and gaskets. I never use the gaskets. Just the o-ring.

                Yes, back in warranty period.

If you have to get a new pump, I'm sure Discount Inboard Marine will have a new pump. Not sure if Nautique Parts will have a pump. We get a group discount @ Nautique Parts.
